John Wayne Guns was the quintessential American cowboy and a true hero. His imposing presence, distinctive voice and natural charisma made him the embodiment of the strong, manly hero archetype that dominated Hollywood Westerns throughout the Golden Age of Film. And no cowboy is complete without his sidearm, his six-shooter.

John Wayne Guns: A Collector’s Dream

During the course of his 84-film career, the Duke was seen slugging it out with firearms ranging from muzzleloaders to assault rifles. But there was no denying that the large loop Winchester Model 1892 was his signature weapon. He starred in over 30 films with this particular rifle, and it was his most-used firearm. It was the gun that he carried in Big Jake, True Grit, and Stagecoach. It was also the rifle that he used to demonstrate his famous rifle twirl, which he perfected even while riding on horseback at the gallop.

In addition to his favored lever action rifle, the Duke also carried Colt Single Action Army revolvers. He owned several of these engraved Great Western revolvers, but it was the one that appeared in 1969’s ‘True Grit’ that became his trademark. He twirled this specific gun while reciting his advice to his nemesis, the Plummer brothers in the climatic four-on-one shootout.

Pyramyd Air is proud to offer a working replica of the John Wayne gun that made the man. Each rifle is carefully built to a level of beauty and historical accuracy that rivals the originals. Each rifle comes in a custom box sleeve with a historic John Wayne owner’s manual, an inletted medallion, classic ladder-style rear sight and 44-40 chambering (just like the originals). This is a finely crafted reproduction of the legendary rifle that was the trademark of America’s greatest actor.
